In some cases even bones get deformed and scoliosis (curvature of the spine) takes place.

This is considered an inherited disorder seen almost always in boys. Muscle tissue begins to degenerate and is slowly replaced by fatty tissue. Usually starts in the pelvic muscles and the lower back muscles. The child develops a waddling gait. Calf muscles, shoulders and arms are also slowly affected.
